Writing, speaking & community-building for people who serve.

Hi, I'm Jill Hinton Wolfe.
My work lives at the intersection of mission, tribe and grace (in fact, I authored a whole book about it!). I write and speak about how people rebuild meaning after major life shifts, how veterans can lead change in their communities, and how nature can be a training ground for courage.I’m an Army veteran and a legally blind outdoorswoman. I’m also the founder of Outdoor Book Club, where literature and trail miles meet up to remind women of their own resilience. If any of that sounds like your world—or the world you're trying to build—you're in the right place.

Writing
A guide for veterans who want to build purpose, community, and self-compassion.
Substack
I write about what holds us steady: mission, community, and grace. You’ll find essays, interviews, and notes from the trail—all gathered in one place.
I share regular insights on veteran leadership, community-building, disability, and the everyday practice of mission, tribe, and grace.

Veterans and civic engagement
If you’re supporting veterans—or leading through transition—I’d love to work with you.

Outdoor Book Club

Outdoor Book Club is my favorite experiment in community. What began as a small hiking-and-reading group grew into retreats, workshops, and a way for women to reconnect with themselves through story and the outdoors. You don’t need hiking poles or a certain level of fitness. You only need curiosity and a willingness to try something a little different.
Work With Me
I collaborate with:
Veteran-focused organizations
Colleges and universities
Disability support programs
Leadership institutes
Community groups
You can bring me in for a keynote, a workshop, a writing project, or a conversation about supporting veterans in meaningful ways.
More About Me
I served in the US Army in the 90’s, found a second life in writing and advocacy, and later became legally blind from retinitis pigmentosa. That diagnosis introduced me to my guide dog, Hannah, who doubles as my mobility aid and adventure buddy. My work is rooted in three ideas that rebuilt my life:Mission. Tribe. Grace. They’re what carried me through military service, disability, parenthood, and the slow work of becoming the human I am today.
